Prior's Field School, Priorsfield Road, Godalming, GU7 2RH
When Prior's Field School opened on 23 January 1902, it was the fulfilment of a dream for Julia Huxley. Aldous Huxley, the only boy to have been a pupil at his mother's school, is one of the celebrities on the Sgt Peppers Album Cover. Prior's Field, originally called Prior's Garth, was designed by Charles Voysey in the Arts and Crafts style. Many of his original features, such as stylised keyholes and air vents, remain and complement the school's building. The rose garden was laid out in a Gertrude Jekyll inspired design and featured herbaceous borders, dry Bargate stone walls, a dipping pond and rock garden.
