Synopsis

Free-spirited country girl Tess Durbeyfield knows nothing of the world outside her own village. When she is caught between her manipulative cousin Alec and the handsome Angel Clare, a dark love story unfolds leading to seduction, abandonment, and murder. Tragedy is unavoidable as Tess find she is powerless to change her fate.

Gerry Flanagan directs a comic and heartbreaking adaptation of Tess of the d’Urbervilles. The production combines physical theatre and compelling songs mixed with vibrant storytelling and physical comedy. Gerry has worked with many companies including Theâtre de Complicité and the David Glass Ensemble. Composed by Pippa Cleary (Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾) and choreographed by Alicia Frost.

This is a powerful production from YMT pair the finest young actors, singers and dancers from around the country with some of our most exciting directors, choreographers, writers and composers. See the UK's next generation of talent here.
