SPOTLIGHT: Meet our Hertfordshire Summer Camp Director, Simon Kane.

Youth Music Theatre UK has an unwavering reputation for creating the brightest new musical theatre projects and courses, led by trailblazing creative teams from West End, Fringe, Repertoire and Broadway theatre. And in the year of our 15th anniversary, this is no exception, especially in the case of our Hertfordshire Summer Camp taking place 30 Jul - 4 August.

Having trained at the University of Bristol and one of USA’s leading music conservatoires, the College-Conservatory of Music, Simon Kane’s work is as technically superb as it is stunning. From Infinite Joy at Southwark Playhouse to Robin Hood at Cohen Theatre, Simon will now be directing MI 5PY at YMT’s Hertfordshire Summer Camp (30 Jul – 4 August).

An intense and creative course in singing, acting and dancing, Simon will put the 11-17 year olds through their paces by directing them in a brand-new espionage-themed musical in a week. Building confidence and developing key performing arts skills, the young people will excel under the direction of our experienced creative team.

Along with being the Assistant Director for international theatrical productions such as Seussical in Honk Kong, Simon has also assisted in directing West End hits The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ¾ and In The Heights. He was also part of the critically acclaimed project, Theatre Uncut, at London’s famous Young Vic. As a film producer/director, he was worked for clients including The BRIT Awards, The Times and The Sunday Times.

There is still an opportunity to BOOK ON to the Hertfordshire Summer Camp to train under the direction of Simon and the other creatives, but book quick as spaces are limited! We also have camps this year in Edinburgh, Leeds, Wiltshire, Surrey and London. If you are too old to attend any of our Summer Camps, but are interested in being trained by our industry professionals, consider booking on to our London Boot Camp (13-18 August for ages 17-21).
