Youth Music Theatre UK has an unwavering reputation for creating the brightest new musical theatre projects and courses, led by trailblazing creative teams from West End, Fringe, Repertoire and Broadway theatre. And in the year of our 15th anniversary, this is no exception, especially in the case of our Scotland Summer Camp, taking place 6 – 11 August.
As the musical director of our Edinburgh Summer Camp this year, Ella Grace has an exceptional breadth of work under her belt. From writing the music and lyrics for an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s Salome at the Walt Disney Modular Theatre, to working at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Ella’s work is as technically marvellous as it is dazzling. We’re looking forward to Ella choreographing a brand-new show, The Vampire Hunters of Glasgow, at YMT’s Edinburgh Summer Camp (20 – 25 August).
An intense and creative course in singing, acting and dancing, Ella will put the 11-17 year olds through their paces by directing them in a brand-new musical in a week. Building confidence and developing key performing arts skills, the young people will excel under the direction of Ella and the rest of the experienced creative team.
As a composer and lyricist, she is a recipient of the Michael Grandage Future Bursaries Award. As a performer herself, Ella fronted the rock bank Hitchcock Blonde for four years. She is writing the book, music, & lyrics for Nethergate, a contemporary Scottish retelling of Peter Pan, and is also adapting Peter Pan for a theatre in the USA.
There is still an opportunity to BOOK ON to the Scotland Summer Camp to train under the direction of Ella and the other creatives, but be sure to book soon as spaces are limited! We also have camps this year in Wiltshire, Edinburgh, Leeds, Hertfordshire, London and Surrey. If you are too old to attend any of our Summer Camps, but are interested in being trained by our industry professionals, consider booking on to our London Boot Camp (13-18 August for ages 17-21).
